During yesterdays visit to Yorkshire Air Ambulance, some of us noticed a recycling bin for used bras.  Being the inquisitive type (notice I didn't say "nosey"!) I asked for more info about it and also took a photo so could research a bit more.
Basically the campaign was first launched in Autum 2006 by the Yorkshire Federation of Women's Institutes. The aim is to collect 200,000 bras which would raise a minimum of £10,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.  Total number of bras collected so far according to website is 174,060.
This is such a simple thing to do which requires no financial output and I am quite willing to organise collecting from our members (be they male or female!!!).
With our AGM and monthly meeting next week thought it might be a good opportunity to get the collection going.

So come on girls (and boys?!)...dig deep into your drawers (?) and find all those old unwanted bras and donate to a good cause. All colours, styles and sizes are wanted.
I will contact the Bag It Up organisation for some leaflets and collecting bags.

In my (limited) experience most women have their bra's spot welded on to prevent removal
I am willing to come along at short notice with my bolt cutters to assist with any difficulties
